Great Question Ryan!

Start by focusing on building a 'relevant' group of followers. Asking your family members and friends to join your fan page may increase numbers, but not impact. Focus on the members actually engaged with your business and their friends may follow suit.

You can also run an inexpensive Facebook ad campaign which will allow you to choose demographics that fit the profile of your follower.

First and foremost, build a stream of relevant content. It is OK to link to a blog or page on occasion, but people need to be engaged and not feel like a pushy salesman is marketing to them.
