Cadwell Laboratories will complete a 22,000-sq.-ft. addition to its company’s existing offices at 909 N. Kellogg St. in Kennewick in April.
Dan Sanders, owner of Construction Management Specialist was the general contractor on the $1.73 million project. The addition, designed by McCue and Associates of West Richland, includes 25-30 new offices, a locker room, workout facility and a kitchen.
The exterior has a stucco finish with metal caps and the interior is warm, with a modern, industrial feel.
The company expanded to make room for its engineering department, which will move into the two-story addition and a second company, Cadwell Therapeutics, will also move into the new space.
Cadwell Laboratories is a family-owned company managed by brothers Carl and John Cadwell.
Dr. John Cadwell, BSEE, M.D. designed the first microprocessor-controlled EMG instrument.
In 1979, John Cadwell and his brother, Dr. Carl Cadwell, DDS, formed Cadwell Laboratories Inc. and began selling the device. Since then, Cadwell has been a leader in the development and manufacture of innovative and reliable instruments for neurophysiology.
Cadwell holds numerous patents, including those for magnetic stimulators, cable shielding designs, neural network analysis of EEG and database designs.
The addition gives Cadwell the opportunity to expand and the company anticipates hiring 10-15 new employees, including engineers.
