Valley Theater Company Partners with Prosser High School to Produce “The Pirates of Penzance”

Directors Kimberly Starr and L.J. DaCorsi, with Producers Candace Andrews and Marcia Hopkins are seeking adults and students 8th grade and up to audition for Gilbert and Sullivan’s classic musical farce, ‘The Pirates of Penzance’. This is a hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers and an eccentric Major-General.
Auditions for the show will take place at Bethel Church, 270 N. Gap Road, Prosser, on January 12 and 13. Doors open at 6pm for check in and paperwork before auditions begin at 6:30pm. Auditions will include singing, dancing and cold readings. Please wear shoes and clothing in which you can dance. Individuals interested in the roles of Frederick, Mabel, Major General or Ruth will be asked to sing specific musical pieces; the music is available online at http://www.theprincesstheatre.net/valley-theater-company/auditions/. Those auditioning for ensemble roles as pirates (male or female, appearing 15 years old and up), police constables (male or female, appearing 17 years old and up), and wards (female, appearing 16-25 years old) will also be asked to sing specific music; the music for these will be taught at auditions and is also available on the website.
Those with questions regarding auditions, rehearsal schedules, and script check out can contact Director Kimberly Starr by calling (509) 832-2233. Performance dates for ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ are April 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, May 1, 2, 2020. Cast members will need to be willing to faithfully show up for rehearsals between January and April to make this show as great as possible!
