Saturday, November 5th – 10-4
Fiber artists create with many techniques: weaving, tapestry, felting, knitting, hand spinning. Their products range from large hand-woven rugs and blankets to fine lace knit shawls or tatted lace jewelry. Hand spun yarns, and accessories made from them, are always a highlight of the event, as is the generous selection of their very popular hand-woven tea towels.
Founded in 1974, the Desert Fiber Arts Guild endeavors to teach fiber arts techniques and skills to all who have interest, with the motto “Each one, teach one.” A monthly general meeting is held for all members with a speaker or teacher, and includes sharing by members of their latest fiber art creations.
Throughout the month, special interest groups meet to study a particular topic. These groups can focus on a short-term project, or longer, such as the Great Wheels Spinning Group that was started in the 1980’s and continues today.
If you have interest in joining the Guild, please contact them through their web site: www.DesertFiberArts.org. You may also follow DFA on Facebook.
