Valley Theater Company will welcome community theater companies from throughout Washington State to perform on the Princess Theatre stage in Prosser for Kaleidoscope 2019. The festival will take place Wednesday, February 27 through Sunday, March 3, 2019. Washington State Community Theatre Association(WSCTA) sponsors the biennial event in odd-numbered years.
The festival is a celebration of theatre for participants and the public. It is also a competition, a first step in the American Association of Community Theatre festival cycle (AACTFest) that includes state, regional, national and international competitions.
The public is invited to attend every performance of Kaleidoscope 2019 or just sample a few. Please visit www.theprincesstheatre.net for a complete list of participating theatres and productions.
Performance sessions will be Thursday evening, February 28; Friday afternoon and evening, March 1 and Saturday morning, afternoon and evening, March 2. Times for each session and the session participants will be announced publicly February 1. All performances are open to the public; however in accordance with AACT festival rules, patrons are seated on a first come-first seated basis, no one may be seated after a performance begins and anyone who leaves the theatre auditorium may not return during a performance.
Attendees should be aware that AACT policy permits the widest possible range of dramatic material to be performed and does not permit censorship of any company’s production. Some Kaleidoscope productions will include adult content. Entries may range from musicals to serious dramas to comedies.
Festival passes, which allow entry to all performances over three days, will cost $25; passes for a single day (with two to six performing theatres) will cost $10-$20. Passes will be available online at https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?ticketing=valle; passes also will be available at the theatre box office prior to all performance sessions. Please note: All passes purchased via the website will be available at “will call” and will not be printable.
