Kristina Lord


Kristina Lord has more than 21 years of journalism experience and has been editor of the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business and Senior Times since July 2016. She spent more than 17 years at the Tri-City Herald and also worked at weekly newspapers in Prosser, Grandview and Yelm. She’s a longtime member of the Society of Professional Journalists’ William O. Douglas chapter and a board member of Warrior Sisterhood, a Tri-Cities Cancer Center support group. She and her husband have two young daughters and they live in West Richland.

Shawna Dinh grew up in the Seattle area and moved to the Tri-Cities in 2009. She joined the Journal of Business in 2014 after working in the design industry for more than seven years. Shawna is currently pursuing her bachelor’s in graphic design and will graduate spring 2018. Her passions include photography, floral design and various other art mediums. She lives in West Richland with her husband and four-year-old dog, Nala.

Mike Haugen has worked with Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business and Senior Times advertising customers since January 2005. Throughout his career he has enjoyed working with clients in a variety of media sales positions. During his time in the Tri-Cities, Mike also worked for a television station and the daily newspaper. Prior to that he worked in book and direct mail sales in Portland, Seattle, Walla Walla and northern California. Mike has lived in the Tri-Cities for nearly two decades with his wife and two children.

Chad Utecht has more than 17 years of sales experience and has been the advertising account manager at the Tri-Cities Areal Journal of Business and Senior Times since October 2016. Chad grew up in the Tri-Cities until moving to Spokane to attend Eastern Washington University. He moved back to the Tri-Cities in 2005. He worked for 15 years at Les Schwab where he learned the value of customer service and two years as sales manager at the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce. He lives in West Richland with his wife and five children.

Melanie Hoefer, General Manager

General Manager

Melanie Hair is the founder and general manager of the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business and Senior Times publications. She has more than 20 years sales, publishing and management experience. Melanie has served in a variety of capacities for nonprofits including United Way, TRIDEC, Children’s Developmental Center and Washington Policy Center. She earned a master’s in organizational leadership with an emphasis in servant leadership from Gonzaga University, and a bachelor’s in communication studies with a minor in business from Eastern Washington University. Melanie and her family have called the Tri-Cities home since 1998.
