Foundation offers virtual board member training

BoardBuild

A new program aimed at strengthening local nonprofit boards is coming to the Tri-Cities.

Three Rivers Community Foundation is collaborating with BoardBuild, a software company which provides online training for current or future board members.

BoardBuild was founded in 2019 by nonprofit professionals to bolster communities through training on board governance and equity.

The program also includes a matching element, which connects individuals who have taken the training courses with open board seats in their area of interest. Likewise, nonprofits can find leaders meeting their qualifications or help build the skills of their current board members.

“BoardBuild training will create a pool of talented individuals from across our region, ready to make an impact through board service, and to strengthen existing boards,” said Abbey Cameron, CEO of 3 Rivers Community Foundation, in a statement. “Together with BoardBuild we will demonstrate how boards benefit from diverse and capable leadership.”

Two online courses are offered by BoardBuild: The Essentials of Nonprofit Board Governance and Governance with Equity: DEI for Nonprofit boards.

Both courses are self-paced, and cost $200 each to register, or $300 for both, with group discounts available.

Individuals who complete the Essentials of Nonprofit Board Governance can post a profile to match with open board seats.
