Were you prescribed a generic antibiotic for an infection or perhaps took a generic stimulant to treat your attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in the past? If so, you may be owed compensation. 

The Washington State Attorney General’s Office is encouraging consumers and businesses to check for their eligibility to participate in a recent settlement with generic drug manufacturers.  

Roughly $96.5 million is available after the manufacturers made settlements with a nationwide coalition of state justice officials that claimed the companies illegally conspired to raise generic drug prices. 

“Washingtonians deserve fair pricing for the medications they need to stay healthy. This bipartisan agreement secures compensation for Washington consumers who were unlawfully overcharged,” said Attorney General Nick Brown in a statement. “Our antitrust team is committed to holding Big Pharma accountable and making sure corporations follow the law.” 

Washingtonians who bought a listed generic drug between May 2009 and December 2019, may be eligible for compensation. Businesses that indirectly bought one or more of the listed generic prescription drugs or provided reimbursement for some or all of the purchase price also may be eligible for compensation.
