Curious when all WA’s new taxes will kick in? There’s a calendar for that

Now that the dust is settling after the short 2026 legislative session, a conservative tax policy think tank has compiled a multiyear breakdown of when the slew of new state taxes and handful of tax cuts go in and out of effect.

The sweeping tax package passed during the 2025 legislative session, the largest in the state’s modern history, was amended during the 2026 session, with some of the increased taxes repealed or amended, said the Washington Research Council in a release.

The new, repealed and amended taxes cover four types of taxes: business and operations, or B&O; income, capital gains and estate taxes; sales and transportation.
