Find free tax prep services across the Tri-Cities

Senior Times

The AARP Foundation is providing free tax assistance and preparation through its Tax-Aide program at sites around the Tri-Cities. AARP membership is not required.

United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties also is offering free tax filing through the online My Free Taxes program.

There’s no fee for either program.

Here’s a list of the Tax-Aide sites in the Tri-Cities area:

Richland

  • 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays; 8 a.m. to noon Tuesdays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays; Richland Community Center, 500 Amon Park Drive. Appointments required. Closed on Feb. 16 for Presidents Day. Call 509-542-7960.

Kennewick

  • Noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Mid-Columbia Libraries, Kennewick branch, 1620 S. Union St. Appointments required. Call 509-542-7960.
  • Noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays, Mid-Columbia Libraries, Keewaydin Park branch, 405 S. Dayton St. Appointments required. Call 509-542-7960.

Pasco

  • Noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Mid-Columbia Libraries, Pasco branch, 1320 W. Hopkins St. Walk-ins accepted based on availability. Appointments can be made by calling 509-542-7960.
  • 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Pasco City Hall, 525 N. Third Ave. Walk-ins accepted based on availability. Appointments can be made by calling 509-542-7960.

Burbank

  • Noon. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Burbank Library, 875 Lake Road, Burbank. Walk-ins accepted based on availability. Appointments can be made by calling 509-542-7960. 

Many of the sites offer assistance in Spanish. Taxpayers will need to bring important documents to their appointments. 

My Free Taxes

United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties’ My Free Taxes program is offered in partnership with the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to help qualified filers prepare their tax returns online. 

U.S. tax filers who earned less than $89,000 last year file their federal and state taxes qualify for the online program. 

Through April 15, filers who need help can call 1-866-698-9435 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

From April 21 through Oct. 15, support will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Taxes are due April 15.
