Traffic detours coming for Horn Rapids Road

Heads up, Framatome workers and others using Horn Rapids Road: another traffic pattern change starts today.

Beginning mid-morning on Aug. 10, the city of Richland’s contractor will shift the current traffic routing on Horn Rapids Road, according to a release. The traffic impacts are a result of the North Horn Rapids Sewer Extension Project which will extend sanitary sewer infrastructure to support current and future development in the Horn Rapids area.

The routing change means Framatome workers using the existing route for the morning shift will need to use the new route via Kingsgate Way after their shift.

Once the new traffic routing is in place:

  • Horn Rapids Road between Kingsgate Way and the Framatome main entrance will reopen to traffic.
  • Horn Rapids Road between the Framatome main entrance and Stevens Drive will close.
  • Access to Framatome will be available only from the west via Kingsgate Way.
  • Battelle Boulevard will serve as the designated detour route.

The new traffic configuration is expected to remain in place through mid-October while construction continues.

Drivers traveling through the area should follow posted detour signs, allow additional travel time, and use caution around construction crews and equipment.
