Twin City Foods plans to lay off more than 100 employees as it consolidates its Ellensburg and Pasco plants.

That’s according to a worker adjustment and retraining notification, or WARN, notice provided to the state.

The company is laying off 109 employees from its packaging and processing facility at 501 W. Fourth Ave. in Ellensburg starting Nov. 2. Most of the affected workers are members of Teamsters Local Union No. 760.

The downtown Ellensburg facility processes corn, peas and carrots from local farmers into frozen products destined for overseas markets, according to a 2025 video from the Association of Washington Business. The plant employs 160 people.

“Twin City Foods has been here in downtown Ellensburg since ’68,” said plant manager Lucinda Mills in the video. “This facility has been producing peas, corn and carrots for that long. We love it here, and we want to make sure that we extend our doors to the community so they know what we’re doing.”

During last year’s harvest, the plant processed about 1 million pounds of carrots a day during harvest. The plant’s freezer can store about 45 million pounds of product.

Twin City Foods announced plans to merge with Smith Frozen Foods in 2024, operating under a new parent company called TCF Holdings Inc. 

The Pasco plant is at 5405 N. Industrial Way. Other Twin City Foods facilities are at 1000 E. First Ave., Kennewick and in Lake Odessa, Michigan. The company is based in Stanwood.
