Event Description

Columbia Ability Alliance is raising the bar on fundraising events with its annual gala, Abilities Uncorked Presented by CPCCo, taking place Saturday, May 31, 2025, 5:30 p.m. at Bookwalter Winery in Richland. This elevated evening offers a fresh take on the traditional banquet, replacing it with a strolling dinner experience, curated wine pairings, and an immersive culinary journey led by guest Executive Chef Aaron Tekulve of Seattle’s celebrated restaurant Surrell.

“Abilities Uncorked is more than your typical gala, it’s a celebration of community, possibility, and progress,” said Michael Novakovich, President and CEO of Columbia Ability Alliance. “We’re inviting people to experience something extraordinary: exceptional food, meaningful connection, and a shared purpose of creating more opportunities for people of all abilities. The format encourages guests to truly engage with each other, our mission, and with the incredible talent of our featured chef.”

Chef Aaron Tekulve, recognized for his appearance on Food Network’s CHOPPED, is the culinary visionary behind Surrell in Seattle, named one of Wine Enthusiast’s Top 50 Best Restaurants in America. He will work alongside Bookwalter Winery's talented culinary team to bring his signature Modern Pacific Northwest cuisine to the Tri-Cities for this one-night-only experience.

What Makes Abilities Uncorked a Must-Attend Event:

  • Gourmet food stations prepared by Executive Chef Aaron Tekulve.
  • Opportunity for guests to converse with Chef Tekulve and CAA’s Opportunity Kitchen graduates.
  • Curated wine pairings for each culinary station.
  • An exciting live auction featuring exclusive experiences and getaways.
  • A vibrant, mission-centered atmosphere under the stars CPCCo has proudly taken the lead as the presenting sponsor for this incredible evening.

All proceeds benefit Columbia Ability Alliance’s programs, which provide employment services, vocational training, life skills development, and community integration for individuals with disabilities and other barriers. Every ticket purchased directly supports real-world opportunities that help people live, work, and thrive in inclusive environments. Tickets and sponsorships are on sale now; early reservations are strongly encouraged.
