Trios Health will host a blood drive with the American Red Cross on Friday, November 14, from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Trios Care Center at Southridge. Community members are invited to join Trios staff in rolling up their sleeves and giving this life saving donation.
“Donating blood is one of the simplest, yet most powerful ways to save lives. Every pint can help patients in critical need, whether it's trauma victims, surgical patients, or those battling cancer.” said Jean Lewis, Trios Health Laboratory Director. “At our hospital, we see firsthand how vital this gift can be.”
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.
“We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.”
According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.
Appointments are needed to participate in the Blood Drive.
