Event Description

Join us on Leap Day to learn about volunteer opportunities at Heartlinks! Complimentary lunch will be served. Heartlinks needs volunteers like you to visit hospice patients wherever they call home (assisted living and skilled nursing facilities or the person’s home). Learn how you can provide hope to those at the end of life. When: Leap Day – Thursday, February 29 from 12 to 1 p.m. (Lunch provided) Where: Richland Community Center Arts & Crafts Room (500 Amon Park Drive) Who: People who desire to support Heartlinks by providing companionship and empathy for individuals at the end of their lives. You must be at least 18 years old and able to volunteer a minimum of one hour a week. You will get to know someone new and help acknowledge their inherent worth by reading to them, organizing photos, helping them write letters, doing puzzles, coloring or just listening to their life story. Your presence will normalize the hospice experience. You will also give their family members relief from caregiver fatigue through opportunities for rest or a change of scenery while you stay with their loved one. There is no obligation to volunteer by attending the Lunch & Learn. Just come and learn more about Heartlinks. We’d love to meet you. Please RSVP by email to [email protected] or call 509-837-1676.
