

Gov. Bob Ferguson and the Legislature are at odds over the budget, with Ferguson saying the Legislature’s proposals rely too heavily on new tax revenue.

State Reps. April Connors of Kennewick and Stephanie Barnard of Pasco, along with state Sen. Matt Boehnke of Kennewick, said in a joint release that funding, secured during the recent 2026 legislative session, now bring the region’s capital funding to $100 million for the 2025-27 biennium.
“From housing and behavioral health to schools, community facilities, infrastructure and public spaces, these are the kinds of investments that will help our communities meet current needs and plan for future growth,” their joint statement said. “Together, these investments will strengthen communities, support local jobs, improve safety and reliability, and help ensure ... the Tri-Cities region continue to grow in a way that serves families, workers and future generations.”
