The USA BMX Lumberjack Nationals opening ceremonies kick off on Aug. 22 before competitors from across the U.S. and Canada compete at Columbia Basin BMX’s course at the Horn Rapids Athletic Complex.
The event is part of USA BMX’s 30-race National Championship Series and is expected to generate more than $360,000 in visitor spending for hotels, restaurants and retailers.
Bringing the event back to the region is part of Visit Tri-Cities’ Signature Sports strategy, which focuses on sporting events and competitions drawing visitors to the area.
“When visitors travel here for a major event like this, they’re not only enjoying world-class competition, they’re supporting small businesses, filling hotel rooms and creating opportunities that benefit our entire community,” said Kevin Lewis, president and CEO of Visit Tri-Cities, in a statement.
