Dog lovers rejoice: the new Columbia River Dog Park has announced its opening day and you’re invited to celebrate the occasion. 

The dog park, located just east of the Family Fishing Pond and south of the East Boat Ramp in Columbia Park, will open at 10 a.m. Oct. 18, according to a the city of Kennewick. 

The facility was originally scheduled to open by the end of June but irrigation issues prevented its grass from growing in properly. 

Vendors, a costume contest and giveaways including 100 free pup cups from The Beverage Company will be part of the grand opening celebration.
