The private equity-controlled healthcare provider that operates two of the Tri-Cities’ three hospitals and dozens more around the country has named a new top leader.

Tennessee-based Lifepoint Health has announced Aaron Lewis will be its new president and chief operating officer. Lifepoint has operated Kennewick’s Trios Health and Pasco’s Lourdes Health since 2018.

Lewis, who has been with Lifepoint since 2018 and served as chief financial officer since 2024, replaces former president and COO Jason Zachariah and will now play a leading role in the company’s efforts to expand into new markets and services.

“Aaron has played a vital role in Lifepoint’s growth and transformation for nearly a decade,” said David Dill, chairman and chief executive officer of Lifepoint Health. “He has a keen understanding of our company and its opportunities, and we are excited to see him step into this new role and expand how he works with our teams across the nation as we position ourselves for the future. We are grateful for his ongoing commitment to Lifepoint, our people and our mission of making communities healthier.”

Lifepoint, which is controlled by private equity firm Apollo Global Management, has nearly 55,000 employees working at 68 community hospital campuses, more than 70 rehabilitation and behavioral health hospitals, and more than 300 additional sites of care throughout the country, most of them in the Sun Belt region.

“I am excited to work even more closely with our operations teams to drive innovations in care delivery, further enhance access to care and explore new opportunities to strengthen and grow how we serve our communities nationwide,” Lewis said in a statement.

Lewis, who started his career at Merrill Lynch as an investment banker, previously worked for RCCH HealthCare Partners, the company that originally acquired Trios following Kennewick Public Hospital District’s bankruptcy. Apollo then acquired RCCH and merged it with Lifepoint.

Lifepoint has recently made moves to grow its presence in the Pacific Northwest. It recently completed its acquisition of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, along with seven other healthcare facilities around the country from ScionHealth, another Apollo-controlled healthcare provider.
