Certified nursing assistants at a Richland nursing home and others in the Yakima Valley are voting on a new labor contract that would increase wages 8% over two years if ratified.
The CNAs, who are represented by union SEIU Local 775, had negotiated the new contract with PACs Group Inc., which owns six nursing homes in the state, including Richland Post Acute, for the past year, according to information from the Washington State Labor Council.
PACs Group is a Utah-based skilled nursing care provider founded in 2013 that currently operates 323 facilities across 17 states. The company reported 2025 revenue of $5.29 billion in early March, an increase of 29.3% over the prior year.
Care workers reportedly were focused on securing more competitive wages, seeking lower turnover and improved staffing.
“We are caring for residents with high needs, often on a skeleton crew of staff,” said Anadelia Flores, a CNA at Richland Post Acute, said in a statement. “Our work is essential and we deserve to be treated that way. Caregivers aren’t in this line of work just for a paycheck. Our jobs are mentally, physically and emotionally stressful, getting fair pay that helps us make our own ends meet is really important.”
