STCU
What has been your/your company’s most significant success over the last 12 months?
Onboarding several ag and commercial/industrial full member relationships. STCU implemented ag lending a year and a half ago.
On which boards do you currently serve? With which nonprofits do you volunteer?
Tri-Cities Community Health, Goodwill Industries of the Columbia, Inspire Development Centers.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Time is priceless, once a moment is gone, no amount of money can get it back.
To whom or where do you go for sound business advice?
Fortunate as a banker to have friends in many industries who I can reach out to for advice depending on the situation.
What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?
Picking cherries with my family. You can accomplish more when tasks at hand align with individual abilities. When we were little and couldn’t set a ladder or carry large buckets, my siblings and I were the pit crew to our parents. We would be ready with food and water as they transitioned from filling their buckets and dumping them into boxes, which we would also set up, so they wouldn’t break stride and keep on picking. The more they were able to pick, the more money they made, the better off we all were.
Name one thing about yourself you want people to know.
I’m an introvert at heart but play an extrovert anytime I’m around people.
Who do you consider a person of influence in the Tri-Cities and why?
The quiet people in the background who go about their day making a difference, never seeking recognition, but having meaningful impact in the community.
If you had one wish for the Tri-Cities, what would it be?
E pluribus unum.
