Port commissioners unanimously approved a letter of intent with a company interested in buying a 42-acre site at the industrial park north of Pasco for $6.3 million.
The letter gives the company 90 days to proceed with the sale and prohibits the port from considering offers from other potential buyers.
“We have multiple suitors for the property at Reimann, and they didn’t want to risk missing their window of opportunity,” Stephen McFadden, the port’s director of economic development and marketing, told the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business.
Neither the company’s name nor any other details were disclosed.
McFadden said the buyer’s confidentiality is being maintained until there is a purchase and sale agreement for the property due to concerns around the company’s competitors.
However, McFadden said the port has worked with the company in the past, has vetted it and is confident that the company will buy the property and develop it, stimulating economic development.
