Trios Health has welcomed its newest crop of residents, and the group includes a Benton City native. 

The Class of 2027 includes four family medicine resident physicians and five internal medicine resident physicians. 

They are:

• Samyar “Sam” Attarian, DO, internal medicine, Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine, hometown Mission Viejo, California.
• Jack Barr, DO, family medicine, Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, hometown Eugene, Oregon.
• Valerie Martin, MD, family medicine, Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine, hometown Taylorsville, Utah.
• Miriam Pace, MD, family medicine, St. George’s University School of Medicine, hometown Portland, Oregon.
• Lydia Rule, DO, internal medicine, Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine, hometown, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
• Itzi Sabanero, MD, internal medicine, Universidad Quetzalcoatl en Irapuato Escuela de Medicina, hometown Benton City.
• Anderson Shih, MD, family medicine, St. George’s University School of Medicine, hometown Irvine, California.
• Kevin Thai, DO, internal medicine, Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine, hometown Henderson, Nevada.
• Hetal Thakor, DO, internal medicine, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, hometown Jasper, Florida.

“We believe each of these doctors will be a great asset to our team, our residency program, and, most importantly, our patients,” said Emma Chambers, designated institutional officer of graduate medical education at Trios Health.

A residency is an intensive period of training after medical school. More than 1,000 people applied for the nine slots.

Trios also recently appointed two of its residents to serve as chief residents: Drew Ableman, DO, has been selected as chief resident for the Family Medicine Residency Program, and Janhvi Rana, MD, has been chosen as chief resident for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.

The residency programs last 36 months and include both inpatient and outpatient experiences. Residents will be trained by faculty at Trios Health and in the community. Both programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
