Two auto part companies are expanding their Tri-Cities presence with two new stores.

O’Reilly Auto Parts is moving into a Kennewick storefront, while AutoZone is setting up shop in the Queensgate area of Richland.

O’Reilly

O’Reilly Auto Parts will be moving into the former Big Lots store at 3019 W. Kennewick Ave., according to building permits issued by the city on March 6. The renovation is valued at $300,000 and includes minor alterations to the 26,710-square-foot space. Minnesota-based G.M. Northrup Corp. is the general contractor.

Permits also have been issued for $10,000 in plumbing and $10,190 in illuminated signs.

The Kennewick Big Lots was set to close in late 2024, following the company’s bankruptcy filing and the closure of the Richland Big Lots.

O’Reilly Auto Parts currently has two existing Kennewick locations, plus two Pasco locations and a Richland store.

AutoZone

AutoZone will be building a new store at 2851 Duportail St. The 0.9-acre parcel sits at the corner of Kennedy Road and Duportail Street, right next to the Les Schwab Tire Center.

A permit issued March 4 by the city of Richland puts the building cost at $881,649 for the 7,384-square-foot shop.

Snohomish-based Corstone Contractors LLC is listed as the general contractor.

The company has completed more than 70 projects for AutoZone, totaling nearly $40 million in construction work, according to the contractor’s website.

AutoZone already has a Richland location at 1701 George Washington Way, as well as two Kennewick stores and a Pasco location.

Construction is already well underway.
