Kennewick used car dealership expanding

The dirt is piling up as ditches are dug for the foundation of the new showroom going in at Excalibur Auto Group in Kennewick.

There will be a few more gently broken-in cars rolling across Mid-Columbia streets this fall. That’s when the expansion of Excalibur Auto Group, a used car dealership in Kennewick, is expected to be finished.

“I’ll need more cars to fill the lot,” said Eric Moore, Excalibur owner.

Moore purchased 2½ acres adjacent to his present lot, which gives him plenty of room for expansion. He’ll have a total 6½ acres — enough room to build a new 8,500-sq.-ft. showroom and shop for mechanical repairs, while leaving plenty of room to park his inventory.

G2 Construction is the general contractor for the project. The new showroom will be built on the parcel Moore has purchased.

Excalibur’s current facility is about 6,000 square feet, which includes a 2,000-sq.-ft. showroom, with the remainder of the space being used as the mechanical shop.  That space will now become the entire shop.

“We’ll pave everything in between so the two properties will be seamless,” said Moore.

The cost of the expansion, including the cost of the land, is $1.7 million.

“We sell a lot of cars now, but expect to really up our business substantially,” Moore said.

Moore said Excalibur actually outgrew its facility about three years ago and he has wanted to expand for quite some time.

When this lot next to us became available, I moved on it,” he said.  “I’ve wanted to expand, but just didn’t want to have two lots in two different parts of town. This is ideal.”

“There’s a huge market for used cars in the Tri-Cities right now. Sales have been phenomenal,” he said.

Excalibur Auto Group, which has been in business for nine years, is at 8201 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick. Phone is 509-783-2351.

Sales hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday. Service and parts are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily. For more information, go to excaliburautogroup.com.
