Kadlec is holding a firearm lockbox giveaway on Sept. 28.  

The event runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or until all the lockboxes are distributed, at Ranch and Home, 845 N. Columbia Center Blvd., Kennewick. 

People 21 and older are eligible to receive one lockbox each, with a maximum of two 

lockboxes per household. People must be present to receive a lockbox. 

Kadlec is partnering with the Benton-Franklin Health District, Youth Access and Resource Program, and Ranch and Home on the giveaway, which aims to help prevent suicide. 

“Although September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, suicide prevention is an urgently important topic all year long. Safe firearm storage is a key part of suicide prevention,” Kadlec said in a new release about the giveaway.
