Brunch with a Mexican flair? Say no more – unless you also say mimosa flights

Chicken and waffles.

Brunch Bliss and Bubbles, which launched a popular brunch spot in Yakima two years ago, is opening a Kennewick restaurant in April. A popular Yakima brunch spot featuring mimosa flights, a menu with Mexican flavors and bright pink and flowery decor is opening a second location in Kennewick.

Brunch Bliss & Bubbles is renovating the space at 1360 N. Louisiana St., sandwiched between Olive Garden and the AMC theater. It was once home to Tomatillo Authentic Mexican Flavors restaurant, which closed earlier this year.

The new restaurant is expected to open in mid-April.

“It’s time to expand and Yakima is too small for two, so we thought, ‘What’s next? Tri-Cities,’” co-owner Mari Castellanos told the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business. “Tri-Cities has always been our goal.”

She and her sister, Blanca Castellanos, launched Brunch Bliss & Bubbles in 2024 to much success at 910 Summitview Ave. “It’s just a happy place,” Mari Castellanos said, adding that’s it’s also very bougie with lots of flowers and delicious food.

The Yakima women have ties to the restaurant industry, with each managing one of the two Mexican restaurants owned by their mother.

“We’re breakfast-brunch foodies, and we love coming down to the Tri-Cities for breakfast,” said Mari Castellanos, who will be managing the Kennewick restaurant.

Popular dishes at the Yakima restaurant include stuffed chilaquiles, smoked feta tacos, eggs Benedict and chicken fried steak, according to Yelp reviews.

Mari Castellanos confirms their No. 1 best seller is the stuffed chilaquiles, which features cheese stuffed tortilla bites fried in spicy tomato salsa and topped with sour cream and queso fresco.

Their menu also features a variety of cocktail flights, including mimosas, palomas, lemon drops and margaritas.

Mari Castellanos said the Kennewick location will offer the same menu as Yakima’s. And she and her sister are planning for a long stay; they’ve signed a 10-year lease and plan to hire between 15 to 20 people to staff the restaurant.

Brunch Bliss leans into the color pink for its decor, with pink flowers ringing the mirrors, chandeliers, plush pink seats and pink neon signs. Table settings feature gold cutlery. All the decor is inspired by the Castellanos sisters’ shared tastes and will be part of the new Kennewick restaurant.

“We both love pink. We thought, you know, there’s no pink restaurants, so we should do pink,” Mari Castellanos said. “My family questioned it but I said trust me. And it brings people in – and the food keeps people coming back.”
