The Benton and Franklin county auditor’s offices have sent the first round of primary election results to the Washington Secretary of State following the Aug. 4 election. 

As of the morning of Aug. 4, voter turnout was 19.4% in Benton County and 15.2% in Franklin County. 

In both counties, a slew of contenders are competing for seats in the state Legislature, Congress and the state Supreme Court.  

In Benton County, several county offices were on the ballot with contests for sheriff and prosecutor. A seat on the Richland City Council is also before voters as are levy propositions from Benton County fire districts 4 and 6.   

In Franklin County, there were contenders facing off for sheriff, assessor and a seat on the county’s Board of Commissioners.
