A labor dispute that recently delayed progress on the Dallas Road roundabout project in Richland appears to have been resolved as construction is set to resume Aug. 19.

Contractor Goodman & Mehlenbacher Inc. of Kennewick, also known as GAME Inc., notified the city that work would resume, according to the city.

Trowbridge Boulevard will be closed at the Dallas intersection for the roundabout construction.

Eastbound and westbound traffic along Trowbridge will be detoured via Gateway Avenue, and a lane shift will be in place at the intersection of Ava Way and Dallas.

The city said the Trowbridge closure is expected to last about three weeks.

Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through the construction area and to expect delays. For updates, go to: ci.richland.wa.us/DallasRoad.

The city deferred questions about the status of the labor dispute to the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 302 office. IUOE 302 represents heavy-equipment operators and stationary building operators among others.

The labor issues also affected a city of West Richland project.

“At this time, we do not know how long the strike will last, but we will continue to keep you posted on any project updates,” the city said in an Aug. 18 social media post about the Red Mountain vicinity improvements along Highway 224.

The city noted that the Ruppert Road, Belmont Boulvard and Highway 224 intersection is closed with detours in place for 10 to 12 weeks.

Highway 224 is closed to through traffic between Paradise Way and the Ruppert-Belmont intersection.
