Celebration and remembrance will be the focus of a family-friendly event at one Tri-Cities funeral home.
Einan’s at Hillcrest – Pasco will host a Día de los Muertos gathering from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 2.
The event will start with a service of remembrance followed by activities including traditional foods for the Latin American holiday, activities such as a photo booth and making an altar, or ofrenda, and a screening of the Disney movie “Coco,” which is focused on the holiday.
“We’ve been hoping to bring a Día de los Muertos celebration to our community for quite some time,” said Holley Sowards, the funeral home’s director of operations, in a statement. “This year, everything aligned perfectly. We’re honored to provide a meaningful and inclusive space at Einan’s at Hillcrest – Pasco where remembrance, culture, and connection come together.”
Attendees also will be invited to write messages to their loved ones and place them on the ofrendra surrounded by marigolds, photos and other symbols of remembrance.
For those unable to attend in person, parts of the event will be streamed live on Facebook.
The Pasco funeral home is at 224 S. 24th Ave.
