An iconic Washington state performance venue is getting ready to begin building its next chapter. 

Vince and Carol Bryan, founders of the Gorge Amphitheatre, are now part of an effort to build two additional performance spaces adjacent to the outdoor concert venue as part of The Hilltop development, according to the project’s website. 

Architects have already been chosen for The Grotto, a 1,200-seat concert hall that will be carved and sustainably built into the area’s rock formation and provide ideal acoustics for performers. 

“Designed to emerge from the land and inspired by the basalt cliffs and endless skies above the Columbia, The Grotto will pair unforgettable performances with some of the most breathtaking views in the Pacific Northwest,” according to a social media post from the developers. 

A second venue, The Terraces, will be a 2,000-seat open air space overlooking the Columbia River. 

The original amphitheater, located outside Quincy, opened in the 1980s and has become a destination for major touring artists and other performances over the decades. It can hold 20,000 people and is also served by a nearby camping area.
