Inomedic Health Applications Inc. (IHA) has achieved remarkable success in its inaugural year managing the occupational medical services contract at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Hanford site.

Since assuming responsibilities on Jan. 1, 2024, IHA has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to workforce health and wellness, delivering a comprehensive range of medical services to the workforce of more than 9,000 people.

Workforce well-being

IHA’s offerings encompass medical monitoring programs, occupational and fitness-for-duty exams, return-to-work case management, behavioral health support and first aid services. These programs directly support employees from DOE, Hanford prime contractors including key partners Central Plateau Cleanup Company, Navarro-ATL, Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) and Hanford Mission Integration Solutions.

In 2024, the IHA team – comprised of 90 dedicated professionals – handled an impressive 20,606 clinic encounters. These included 7,356 medical exams; 1,318 behavioral health evaluations; and 1,382 wellness sessions.

Additionally, the team administered over 1,500 vaccinations, including 824 flu shots provided during on-site clinics. Preventive care initiatives like these have been pivotal in maintaining workforce readiness and minimizing disruptions caused by illness.

A hallmark of IHA’s first year was the transition to a fully electronic health record (EHR) system. Moving away from a hybrid paper-electronic format, the EHR has streamlined processes, reduced paperwork and empowered clinicians with real-time access to patient information.

Despite challenges associated with the implementation, IHA’s focus on training and optimization ensures the system is poised to deliver long-term efficiencies and improved care quality.

Meeting workforce-specific needs

Understanding the unique demands of the Hanford workforce has been a key priority. IHA’s first-year initiatives included enhancing the sitewide beryllium program, expanding behavioral health and wellness services and reducing wait times to minimize disruptions to employees’ schedules. These efforts were made possible through close collaboration with site leadership and employee representatives, ensuring services remain relevant and responsive.

A vision for 2025 and beyond

Building on the solid foundation established in 2024, IHA is prepared for a year of meaningful process enhancements aimed at optimizing efficiency and elevating the patient experience in 2025:

  • Process optimization: Streamlining workflows to enhance service delivery, ensuring compliance with DOE health and safety requirements.
  • Technology integration: Leveraging data analytics to proactively address workforce health trends.
  • Employee engagement: Expanding outreach to raise awareness of available services and encourage proactive participation in health programs.

Commitment to excellence

As a woman-owned small business with over two decades of experience in occupational medicine, IHA is uniquely positioned to support the Hanford workforce. Our teaming partners AnovaWorks and JES Tech further bolster IHA’s ability to deliver exceptional health services tailored to the needs of a federal workforce.

By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, IHA remains dedicated to advancing occupational health and wellness at Hanford.

As the company looks to the future, its mission to enhance employee well-being and support the Hanford cleanup mission remains steadfast. With a successful first year behind them, IHA is poised for continued growth and impactful service delivery in the years ahead.
