A string of unexplained cattle mutilations that rattled a tight-knit ranching community in Oregon is the subject of a documentary screening in Richland.

The movie, “Not One Drop of Blood,” was filmed entirely in Harney County, Oregon, about six hours south of the Tri-Cities. It is the feature-length directorial debut of Jackson Devereux and Lachlan Hinton, produced in collaboration with journalist Anna King of Richland.

Beyond the sensational cattle deaths, the filmmakers captured the resilience, struggles and changing traditions of the American West.

“This story is deeply tied to the people of Harney County, but it also speaks to broader questions about rural communities across the West. To share it with my hometown is incredibly meaningful,” King said.

The screening is at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Fairchild Cinemas at Queensgate, 2880 Lincoln Landing, Richland. It will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the filmmakers. Admission is $13.75. Buy tickets here.

The Tri-Cities screening follows its run across national film festivals. It recently won an award for the Best Documentary Feature of the 2025 Local Sightings Film Festival in Seattle.

“Anna’s voice and perspective have been central to this project from the beginning,” said co-director Hinton in a statement. “Bringing the film to her hometown feels just as important as screening it in Harney County.”
