Ahava Coffee has signed a lease for a space in the Badger Heights Plaza, which is just across the street from the Country Mercantile specialty grocery store in the Badger Mountain South area, said Vicki Monteagudo, designated broker and principal with NAI Commercial Tri-Cities.
“This lease is monumental for the Dallas Road corridor,” said Monteagudo in a statement. “The area has been on a clear trajectory of high growth, with residential, commercial, and infrastructure development all converging to create a vibrant new hub. Having Ahava Coffee as one of the anchor tenants adds a gathering place and amenity that residents and commuters have been waiting for.”
Badger Heights Plaza is the first multi-tenant retail space in Badger Mountain South, which has seen increasing development in recent years. Thousands of homes are within a mile of the complex.
Just off Dallas Road, Affinity is preparing to open its third living community for those 55-and-older. And national fast food chain Taco Bell has been issued permits to build a restaurant in the area.
Ahava started in January 2020 with mobile coffee kiosks before acquiring the fixed stand at Argent Road and Road 68 in Pasco. It opened its first brick-and-mortar coffee shop more than a year ago when it took over Raan Coffee at 9425 Sandifur Parkway, Suite 105.
Co-owner Cameron Robbins previously told the Journal the coffee roaster seeks to elevate the coffee drinking experience.
Ahava is known for drinks with syrups and caramel sauce made in-house, as well as pastries and other baked goods made by its own pastry chef. It recently started making paninis.
Ahava bought the popular Barracuda Coffee Co. on Van Giesen Street in Richland at the end of 2024, rebranding it as an Ahava location.
However, at the beginning of July, past owners Jake and Michelle Shupe, along with new partner Kara Vogt, resumed ownership and operation of the shop under the Barracuda name.
Neither Barracuda nor Ahava have commented on the reason for Ahava’s departure.
