The Port of Pasco plans to approach Darigold about the possibility of acquiring right of way across its lot at Reimann Industrial Center to provide previously unplanned rail access to a parcel bought by cold storage provider Cold Summit.

The port will close the stretch of Railroad Avenue between Darigold and Granite Construction from March 27-30 to build a signalized railroad crossing to serve the industrial center north of Pasco, according to a release. The port said the closure is necessary to ensure a safe construction zone.
No through traffic will be allowed, though local access will be possible. Designated alternate routes for through traffic will involve using Highway 395 and Kartchner Street.
The project will expand BNSF rail service to Reimann, part of the 600-acre industrial park’s buildout for future tenants.
“Completing this connection is an important step for the Reimann Industrial Center and for the long-term economic development of our region,” said Stephen McFadden, the port’s deputy executive director, in a statement. “This rail access point strengthens our transportation network and provides Darigold and future tenants with direct access to the Northwest Seaport Alliance via the BNSF Railway.”
