Voters in Benton and Franklin counties have until 8 p.m. Aug. 4 to get their August primary ballot into a drop box and have their vote counted.  

As of the morning of July 31, voter turnout was 12.3% in Benton County and 10.7% in Franklin County.  

In both counties, a slew of contenders are competing for seats in the state Legislature and Congress. In Benton County, several county offices are on the ballot with contests for sheriff and prosecutor. A seat on the Richland City Council is also before voters as are propositions from Benton County fire districts 4 and 6.  

In Franklin County, there are contenders facing off for sheriff, assessor and a seat on the county’s Board of Commissioners.
