Spokane-based STCU will have 10 new branch locations, including in Walla Walla and Umatilla counties, beginning May 13.
Oregon-based Community Bank’s 10 branches in southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon will close May 9 to integrate into the credit union after months of preparation, according to a release. They will remain closed on May 12 before reopening May 13.
As a result of the integration, the former bank customers will have access to STCU’s broader suite of financial products and services, as well as 24-hour access to online banking, the STCU mobile app and a network of 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs.
While the bank locations will be rebranded as STCU sites, they will reopen with the same staff.
“Our two organizations share a commitment to serving our communities, and providing local access to financial services,” said Ezra Eckhardt, STCU’s president and CEO, in a statement. “By integrating the Community Bank staff into our existing team, we’re ensuring that we have people on the ground who know those communities well and have earned the trust of Community Bank customers.”
Founded by school teachers in 1934, STCU is a member-owned, not-for-profit credit union with $5.8 billion in total assets. The credit union’s officials said the integration is a natural expansion of STCU’s current network of 39 branches across eastern Washington, including four locations in the Tri-Cities.
