One of the state’s longest running high school athletic competitions will welcome more than a thousand student athletes, their coaches, families and supporters to Pasco this weekend.

The 63rd annual Pasco Invitational runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 18 at Pasco High School’s Edgar Brown Stadium. Sprinting, relay and distance running events will occur throughout the day alongside those for shotput, javelin, discus and jump categories. Student athletes from more than 80 schools are expected to compete.

In addition to the competition, two running athletes will be inducted into the event’s Hall of Fame:

  • Rebekah Noble, a graduate of John Rogers High School, who is a multi-event Washington State Champion, four-time NCAA All-American and the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Champion, being the first collegiate freshman to win that event.
  • Rick Riley, a Ferris High School graduate who also competed at Washington State University in the 1960s. He set a national record for the two-mile while in high school, won back-to-back state championships, among other owners as an athlete and coach.

Event organizers will also hold a special dedication for Pasco schools superintendent Michelle Whitney, at 1:40 p.m.

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for students with an ASB pass and children 5 and under may attend for free. Concessions will be available.
