Public interviews for the finalists will take place at 6 p.m. Feb. 4-6 at Kennewick School District’s administration building. Community members are encouraged to attend to meet the finalists, ask questions and provide input. 

Washington State University Tri-Cities’ chancellor is part of a team of university administrators tracking how recent decisions by the new U.S. presidential administration may impact the university’s federal funding for current and future research as well as the availability of reports and data. 

The Kennewick School Board will interview six preliminary finalists as it searches for a successor to Superintendent Traci Pierce. Members of the public may attend and observe the interview process on Jan. 28 and 30, and observers will have the opportunity to provide written feedback to the school board.   

Seven years ago, in the landmark case known as McCleary, justices ruled the state had complied with the court’s order to ensure ample funding for basic education. But the state’s been backsliding since, Reykdal said, and no longer provides enough money to local school districts to keep pace with rising costs.

As the Tri-Cities works to position itself as a clean energy hub, a new college program aims to help fill the workforce pipeline that’s necessary to turn this vision into a reality.

Called the One Hanford Leadership Academy, the program will provide six sessions throughout 2025 hosted by Cougar Tracks, WSU Tri-Cities' continuing education program. It will prepare individuals in mid-level management roles for challenges faced by C-suite executives at the Hanford site.  

The Washington State Labor Council is supporting a bill that would establish a child care standards board to ensure the 6,000 licensed child care providers in the state are meeting the needs of young children and their families and that staff for those providers have access to training and equitable wages and benefits.
