Construction on a third roundabout to improve safety at key Richland intersections starts June 11 and will require commuters to use other routes. 

Evictions in Washington have been steadily increasing over the last few years, with no signs of slowing. The spike stems from rising rents coupled with stagnant wages, lack of affordable housing and the expiration of pandemic-era eviction protections such as increased rental assistance. Filings statewide reached an all-time high in 2024, having increased by 53% since 2019. And fiscal year 2025 is on pace to surpass those numbers. 

The biggest declines were in residential construction, specifically single-family homebuilding and spending on home improvements. 

The new pickleball complex features 10 courts with LED lighting, spectator seating and a championship court. Officials say it also will have the only fully accessible wheelchair courts in the Pacific Northwest. 

The Tri-Cities has seen no growth in construction jobs since April 2024, and that’s a lot better than the rest of Washington state. 

Transportation projects for roundabouts, road widening, pedestrian safety and everything in between will benefit from $20.3 million in grants awarded by the Benton-Franklin Council of Governments.
