The Manhattan Project National Historical Park begins its 2025 tour season on the Hanford site Friday, May 2. With the historic B Reactor closed for roof repair, the National Park Service is offering a free tour that takes visitors on a journey back in time before residents of three small farm towns were displaced by the secret mission at Hanford during World War Two to develop a nuclear bomb. The tour stops at structures still standing today, including the restored First Bank of White Bluffs. During the tour, visitors often come across herds of elk and other wildlife flourishing today on the Hanford site.
