The American Red Cross has opened a remodeled 5,180-square-foot center in Kennewick to bring biomedical services and other Red Cross programs under one roof, creating a single location for the community to access resources and services.
The Kennewick site replaces the former Red Cross collection site in Richland, which is now closed. This site has been the location of Red Cross humanitarian work (disaster, preparedness, CPR training and support for military families) for decades.
The Donor Center includes 11 donor beds and recovery area base for biomedical mobile collections/operations, humanitarian services offices, meeting rooms, team work stations common space, kitchen, lockers, snack and dining tables.
In the last year the Red Cross removed a large lawn and xeriscaped the property to align with sustainability goals and reduce water consumption.

This facility represents an investment in the capacity for giving in the Tri-Cities, a strong focus on engaging diverse communities and inspiring the next generation of blood donors.
The remodeling project cost $1.2 million and was completed Sept. 12.
O’Brien Construction Co. of Kennewick is the general contractor.
American Red Cross Real Estate Design Services is the designer.
With support from almost 500 local volunteers, the American Red Cross serving Central and Southeastern Washington responds to home fires and other natural disasters, and guides people through their darkest hours. The nonprofit helps communities prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies. It also collects blood products at the Kennewick and Yakima blood centers and at mobile blood drives throughout the area.
