The opening of STCU’s Columbia Center branch marked its 50th branch in Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon and North Idaho.
Located just off Highway 240 at the Columbia Center exit, the 2,900 square-foot credit union at 2001 N. Columbia Center Blvd. is STCU’s fourth location in the Tri-Cities.
Originally constructed for Umpqua Bank, the single-story stucco building features a drive-thru lane and walk-up ATM, lobby with teller lines and offices.
The project, which cost approximately $2 million for the purchase and remodel, was completed in late September and opened Oct. 8.
Every day, tens of thousands of STCU members access their accounts through online banking and the STCU mobile app. Still, visiting a branch is fundamental to the member experience, and key to the credit union’s culture and success. The new Columbia Center Branch will provide a convenient option for STCU members, whose numbers have grown significantly since the credit union opened its Southridge branch in 2018 – followed by Queensgate in 2019 and Pasco in 2020.

G2 Construction of Kennewick is the general contractor.
STCU is an Eastern Washington-based, not-for-profit credit union founded in 1934. It provides financial products and services to 300,000 members.
For its first 30 years, STCU had no home of its own. Instead, from 1934-64, it operated from a second-floor classroom in Spokane’s Lewis & Clark High School. By 2000, the credit union had six branches – all but one in Spokane County.
In addition to opening its 50th branch, STCU has achieved other milestones in 2025. They include surpassing these numbers: 300,000 members, 1,000 employees and $6 billion in total assets. In addition, STCU’s Here for Good Foundation reached $1 million in grants funded since it was established in 2023, and Lindsey Myhre became STCU’s sixth president and CEO – and the first woman to hold the title.
