Two more gateways to Europe will soon be only a hop and skip for Tri-City air travelers.
Alaska Airlines will debut routes to Rejkjavik, Iceland and London, England in the spring of 2026 from its hub in Seattle, according to a release. The airline, which announced a Seattle connection to Rome earlier this year, said the new routes, along with updated planes, are part of its bid to be a truly global and elevated travel carrier.
“With these bold moves, we are accelerating our vision to connect our guests to the world,” said Ben Minicucci, Alaska Airlines CEO, in a statement. “We are seizing this moment to redefine the international experience and level up.”
There will be daily flights to London’s Heathrow Airport using the airline’s 787-9 Dreamliners, offering 34 enclosed suites with fully lie-flat seats in Business Class and a new design on the planes’ exteriors.
The Rejkjavik route will fly daily during the summer months and will use Alaska’s 737-8 MAX aircraft.
The airline said that London is already a top destination for business and leisure trips while adventurous travelers are flocking to Iceland and its rugged terrain.
