Looking to save some money until gas prices drop? Ben Franklin Transit may be able to help you in July.
The regional transit agency will offer fare-free service on fixed route buses as well as its Dial-A-Ride and CONNECT services through all of July, according to a release.
The promotion is aimed at encouraging wider use of the transit system and to support the community during a time of heightened prices while also giving BFT staff an opportunity to test out fare-free service.
Due to the promotion, no tickets or passes will be sold at BFT’s outlets for July and nonprofits and government agencies that have previously applied for covered passes and tickets do not need to apply for the month. Ticket sales and grant applications for covered fares will reopen on July 20 for the month of August.
Additionally, in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary in July, BFT will unveil an America 250 patriotic bus wrap, and drivers will wear specially designed shirts commemorating the event.
