Hoping to get a close-up look at some hydroplanes before boat race weekend? You’ll have the chance on Wednesday, July 22.  

Hydroplanes will be on display in the Apollo Mechanical Contractors parking lot at 2600 N. Columbia Center Blvd., Richland, from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday to kick off the Tri-City Water Follies.  

All seven H1 teams will have their hydroplanes on display at the event, and smaller boats competing in the Water Follies will be there as well.  

At 6 p.m., the hydroplanes will head east down Columbia Park Trail, toward the park, and the public is invited to watch the parade between Columbia Center Boulevard and Edison Street. Columbia Park will be fenced off and closed to the public starting then.  

The Tri-City Water Follies will take place July 24-26 this year.
