Courtesy Port of KennewickA new food truck serving up Mexican-style seafood is set to open this week at Columbia Gardens Artisan Village in Kennewick.
La Bahia, which is Spanish for The Bay, will have its grand opening at 11 a.m. Sept. 12 at 325 E. Columbia Gardens Way.
The food truck will be in the plaza that’s home to Bobablastic Tri-Cities, Botanas Culichi, Frida’s Mexican Grill and Nana’s Kitchen. Swampy’s BBQ restaurant is also located at Columbia Gardens, along with wineries such as Bartholomew, Monarcha/Palencia and Gordon Estate.
Run by Francisco Mendoza, La Bahia features both seafood and non-seafood items, including shrimp tortas, fish or shrimp ceviche with octopus, and a burrito filled with steak and shrimp.
Mendoza is from Caleta, Mexico, where seafood is a major component of many traditional recipes. His mother owned a restaurant in Mexico, and some of her original recipes are part of La Bahia’s menu, as well as Mendoza’s mother-in-law’s Mexican-style rice.
La Bahia is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.
