A national provider of in-person and virtual treatment for those addicted to opioids recently opened its first location in Washington state in Kennewick.

Groups, which has clinics across 11 states serving roughly 20,000 clients, plans to open more locations in the west in the future, a release said. Its newest location is at 3180 W. Clearwater Ave., Suite M.

“We’re proud to bring our proven outpatient model to Washington and partner with the Kennewick community to help more people recover with dignity,” said Colleen Nicewiz, the company’s CEO, in a statement.

Groups’ outpatient approach combines medication for opioid use disorder with weekly group counseling and individualized support, helping members recover in a way that fits their life. The organization partners with probation and parole programs, rural hospitals and reentry initiatives to serve rural and justice-involved populations. Specialized support is also available for expectant mothers and other vulnerable populations.

Treatment at Groups is covered by most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare plans, with payment options available for the uninsured.

The company says its results indicate the success of its approach. More than 60% of clients stay in care for 180+ days, above the national average, while 93% of clients engage in treatment each month. The company’s clinics also reduce emergency room visits and the number of individuals receiving in-patient treatment through Medicaid, Groups says.
