New Richland branch is 50th for STCU

Spokane-based credit union STCU has opened its 50th branch on Columbia Center Boulevard, the latest sign of its growing presence throughout the region.

The branch, located at 2001 N. Columbia Center Blvd. in a former Umpqua Bank location, opened for business on Oct. 8 and will have a grand opening celebration from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 23.

“Growth provides us with the resources to better serve members through improved technology, more physical locations, and expanded products and services,” said Lindsey Myhre, STCU’s president and CEO, in a statement. “It gives us more opportunities to support communities and spread our ‘Here for good’ philosophy into new areas.”

STCU did not have a branch location for its first three decades, instead operating from a second-floor classroom in Spokane’s Lewis & Clark High School. Twenty-three years later, STCU opened its second branch, and by 2000, there were only six branches, all but one in Spokane County.

Beyond the growth in branch locations, 2025 has been a big year for the credit union:

  • STCU integrated with Community Bank, gaining seven Eastern Oregon branches and three in southeastern Washington.
  • The credit union reached 300,000 members and $6 billion in assets.
  • Myhre became STCU’s sixth president and CEO and the first woman to lead the credit union.
