Richland closing pool for parking lot improvements

George-Prout-Pool
July 2, 2026
TCAJOB Staff

Sorry, Richland folks, but you won’t be able to kick off the holiday weekend with a dip at George Prout Pool.

The city will close the municipal pool to all users beginning today through July 12 to make accessibility improvements for disabled individuals as well as maintenance staff.

That work is part of overall improvements to the northern half of the parking lot that serves the pool and the neighboring Columbia Playfields. It includes full reconstruction of the existing pavement surface, stormwater drainage improvements, new parking lot striping and installation of parking lot lighting. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall.

The parking lot west of the pool will remain open throughout construction.

Temporary ADA accommodations will be provided from the western section of the parking lot to maintain accessible access to the facility while work is underway.

Additional parking will be available in the Columbia Playfield south parking lot and along Swift Blvd.

Access to the Columbia Playfields will remain available off Stevens Drive through the Mansfield Street entrance.
